Below are the most frequently asked questions about the EAP program. If your question is not answered below, please feel free to contact us.
Q: How long is the EAP program?
A: The EAP program is 10 weeks long. Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm to 9 pm. There are 20 sessions altogether.
Q: Do I have to attend all classes?
A: Each lesson builds on the other in order for you to get the most out of the class. Therefore, it is important to attend as many of the 20 sessions as possible.
Q: Do I get a degree or CE credits with this course?
A: Although you get a certificate at the completion of the course, you do not get a degree or qualify for CE credits.
Q: What is the main purpose of the EAP Program?
A: The main purpose is to help you create a successful business plan in order to create a successful business. Whether you are starting a business, or need to grow your business, the EAP program will help you succeed.
Q: Am I guaranteed funds to start my business at the end of the program?
A: No, there are no guarantees. However, we’ve designed this program to help you create a business plan that increases your chances of getting your loan approved. Since we manage two different loan funds, students who complete the entire program will have a better chance at being approved than other individuals.
Q: Will you run these classes in the daytime?
A: We do not have plans for daytime courses at this time. If you are interested, please let us know. If we see a high demand for day time classes, we will consider creating a schedule for one.
Q: Will this course be offered online?
A: Since the program is funded by a grant from the Empire State Entrepreneurial Assistance Program, we have to offer it as classroom style where you physically must attend. This is part of our agreement.
Q: Are the facilities where the classes are held handicap accessible?
A: Yes. The classes are held in the new, state of the art business resource center at the Orange County Chamber of Commerce.
Q: What does the tuition cover?
A: Tuition covers your classroom instructions, handouts, classroom material and pens. All you need is willingness to learn.
Q: Do we have to pay for the web site we create in class?
A: No. We show you how to build a web site and give you free hosting space for one full year. If you choose to keep the web site with the provided account, you simply pay the low monthly fee ($10/mo) at the end of the year, or cancel the account. You are only responsible for purchasing your domain name. If you already have one, you may use that one for your account as well.
Q: What type of support do I get after the 10 week EAP course?
A: In addition to the 10 week course, you will also get 15 hours of technical support (additional fees will apply). You will also receive ongoing support through our affiliation with SCORE. In addition, you will have online support, and we will follow your progress as you continue your business outside of EAP. We will always be just one phone call, or email away.
Q: Who can attend the EAP classes?
The program is specifically designed for start up entrepreneurs, and existing business owners with up to 5 employees. The grant is designed to help minorities, women, and small business owners.
